Adventures with Elastic Search

You may have noticed that the speed of the search has increased on the website. This is because we’ve started using Elasicsearch as the search backend.

Elasticsearch periodically reads all the posts, pages and other metadata on a website and saves it to the Elasticsearch engine. This engine is a super fast NoSQL database with amazing full text searching capabilities which WordPress and MySQL simply doesn’t have!

The plugin we’re using is called ElasticPress. Very simple to setup and does all the indexing for us.
